in England do my stuff well mostly read orror themed books in February as well So keeping up with that impromptu tradition I picked this up At first I was liking it well enough I was like gimme contemporary diverse authors no need to Walter Mosley this up Let s face it we are not Luke Cage But a uarter of way in it started to go downhill and I suddenly realized this was rather a bland offering Whenever I read badly written books I think of Stephen King I know there is no correlation between those two things It is just that King as written so much on Scruples Two how not to write badly that I can t not think ofim or What Janie Found (Janie Johnson, his advice when I chance uponorrendous writing Nicest thing I can say about this novel is that it is properly written and that it s grammatically sound But that s probably by default I was going to give it only one star Then I bumped it up to three because some of the stories in it were really great From any number of them a better book could ave sprung but those stories did buttress this mess and it is worth a skim because of that In those stories did buttress this mess and it is worth a skim because of that In odd way this does remind me of an infinitely better novel Gargoyle by David Andrews I ope Andrews Silver Tower / Strike Force / Shadow Command has written another book by now Even though Iad loved Gargoyle for some reason I disliked it immensely tooAnd I ll admit there is something to living through the nightmares of others That s scarring in a way that even our own rotten dreams are not Incidentally I bought this book with a girl who is than just a friend and yet she is less than what she could be At first I didn t really connect with the characters and I think the dreams may Explosive Acts have been too uick to be able to do that but I enjoyed reading it Some of the dreamsad great endings and were really grippingFavourite character Rachel Rating clarification 45 starsFavourite book of the month Great premise full review in a few days FULL REVIEW For my pre read thoughts and reasons for reviewing please visit From the Shadows I Review This is my favourite Malorie Blackman book of the month without a shadow of a doubt While I didn t find it scary I did find myself getting drawn into the story and losing Shadowbridge (Shadowbridge, hours of my life by just becoming enthralled by the stories Each nightmareas an individual voice to it but still feels like a part of the overall plan of things I Academia de Rowan (A Tapeçaria have to say that I feel like a lot of those nightmares could actuallyappen in our world The premise is an interesting one the ability to ide from your own worst nightmares by jumping into those of others is something I think I d uite like to do Knowing people s deepest darkest secrets would elp make people seem eual to me we re all scared of something The dark s one of my worst fears What about you The writing is some of Malorie s best in my opinion the words flowed together painting beautiful pictures of things no one wants to Two Reels And A Crank happen Her writing is something that just comes with talent and experience and I m in awe oferKyle He s our main character and nightmare jumper He s an interesting character and is difficult for me to pin down I did like Queens Gambit (The Tudor Trilogy, him bute was so filled with pain and guilt but as I read is story I came to see why and I felt for im I understood To be The Camping Cookbook honest if I wasim I d Absalom, Absalom! have played my cards in exactly the same way I felt like I wanted to stage an intervention forim but e s intelligent than most people in the world because e figures out what Black Stone he needs to do to feel better aboutimself and life in general That s something most people don t manage in than a lifetimeRachel Rachel s a bit special in the sense that she s not what she appears to I read this as part of the carnegie longlist 2010 and on balance On Liberty having read Noughts Crosses was disappointed as I felt that Malorie Blackman wasn t presenting anything new The title also oversold theorror element However No Way Down having said that I am about to recommend it to a colleague to read aloud to disaffected teenagers on lunchtime detentions so it can tave been so bad if I think it will Pulled Thread Embroidery hold their attentionI think for me personally I wasoping for something new and startling. But that is ard to deliver in a short story Moreover I Thought NC Was So NC was so it could only go downhill from thereHaving said that MB is a very strong author If you Absolutely on Music have a shorter attention span and want to tryer out this is a solid collectionIf you are a confident reader go straight for Noughts and Crosses if you like dystopia or Boys Don t Cry is you want social realismJust been to see er at the 2012 Phillipa Pierce lecture in Cambridge A lovely lady I went on a bit of a binge this past summer and read way too many books at one go I think at a point I was reading a book a day and this was definitely one of them I ve read other Malorie Blackman books I read Thief when I was much younger and I remember reading two or three books from the Noughts and Crosses series although I don t remember which ones and I definitely didn t follow up on the series I got this book from somebody for free a friend who used to work in a library who would sometimes donate books that were going to be thrown away to er friends And uite Gone for Good honestly though I finished it in a day because it is in fact an easy read I did uite enjoy it The Stuff of Nightmares is a young adult fiction novel which is to say that I 100% anticipated what wasappening and Lallieva (Alice Allevi, how the story would play out It is uite predictableowever I really enjoyed reading it anyway because sometimes predictable can be good Kyle the main character is on a school trip with is classmates and teacher They all board a train that ends up in a orrible accident almost getting derailed While on the train Kyle manages to stay conscious and finds British Society Since 1945 himselfopping from one unconscious person on the train to the next delving into their inner thoughts and nightmares And they are all absolutely terrifying Some of the characters ave nightmares about murder others about nuclear war Some ave nightmares about family members others about crime Each person while unconscious on a train that could very uickly tip over and kill everyone is experiencing their worst nightmare unfold in their sleep and Kyle witnesses every
one of them And Reiki And The Seven Chakras he does this a mysterious dark figure stalksim down the train a figure that seems intent on making sure that Kyle is the only person on the train that remains dead There are two twists in the book that I saw coming from a while away This is a spoiler alert for those who do not want to see Turning the Tide of Battle how this plays out The first is that Kyle s father killedimself even though it isn t mentioned in the beginning there are a lot of dropped I Curse the River of Time hints that Kyle s father not only died but committed suicide The second big twist is that the girl who is supposedlyelping Kyle on the train is not to be trusted because she s actually the grim reaper not the dark figure stalking Once I Was a Princess him on the train Spoiler endsDespite the predictable twists I really did enjoy this book and would recommend it to teenage readers who maybeave a taste for thrillers It can be rather touchy feely especially towards the end but that is to be expected from young adult fiction Final rating is 45 I did greatly enjoy reading it and I think other people should too if they re looking for something uick and easy that doesn t take ages to read Couldn t finish this book I d Court the Night (Blood Bonds, heard of Malorie Blackman and knew secondand that she was a very good author but I just didn t like Greed, Seeds and Slavery her styleThe plot now that I think of it was uite interesting but I thought it couldave been done better Malorie Blackman is one of those Demons, Deliverance, Discernment highly loved authors by the younger readers and from what I can gather this is one of those books that people either adore or they sit on the side about I think the latter is mostly due to people comparing it toer Some Prefer Nettles by Junichiro Tanizaki Summary Study Guide highly acclaimed Noughts Crosses seriesHavingad only this experience with Malorie Blackman I can say I really enjoyed the book Her writing style is really engaging managing to pull the reader into the story easily as well as managing to Well Meet Again hold their attention well I feel as though the title of the book oversells theorror aspect of the story yet it is full of suspense and I would recommend it as a read so long as peopl.
